What to Wear to a Concert: You Probably Shouldn't Listen to Me

kaskade insta
On Saturday, my friend Naomi hooked me up with tickets to see her husband Ryan (aka Kaskade) perform at a (sold out!) show at the Barclays Center. Look at him standing on the table. The command he has over the crowd is extraordinary. They eat him up.

On the subway ride home, a guy from the concert started a conversation with Rob and me by exclaiming, "I just have to say it. That was amazing!" I agreed. You just have to say it. I told him I would pass the message on. He then proceeded to spell his name R-A-M-O-N to clear up any confusion. So there it is Naomi. Ramon (NOT Ramone) said the show was amazing. Please pass it on to Ryan.

This time, I didn't want to make the same concert fashion blunders I've made in the past. My options were either Rob's jeans or the red dress I've worn to death lately. Those weren't going to do. I kick scooted my way all the way to Madewell to see if I could come up with something better. I had one hour.

Madewell is nailing it this season. J.Crew seems a little too preppy and precious and girly for my taste lately. I know they are the same store, but I like the young tomboy vibe of Madewell. Their prices are out of control, but worth the splurge. It's all about quality over quantity for me. I'd rather get one pair of jeans from Madewell over an entire outfit (with shoes) from H&M. And plus, everything fits me better at Madewell. Their size M dresses/tops and 28 pants are made for my body. Makes shopping so much easier.

In a matter of minutes, I fell in love with this pair of jeans (no muffin top) and this silk blouse. I already had the boots from last year to complete the outfit. I felt like a rock star. If only I could pose like one . . .
thanks for the glamour shots, Rob. i'm working it.
The night was unlike anything I normally experience. I was so glad to be there with Rob this time. After the cocktail party, we danced our asses off until the show was over at 12am. And while I was easily 10 years older than most of the people in the audience, I didn't feel it. That is, until Naomi invited us to the after party. Wait, what? People continue on for a few more hours? I'm done. I thanked her for the fabulous night and moon walked my way right out of the venue. It's been two days and I'm still recovering. Oh, the life of a friend of a wife of a rock star is soo exhausting.
A girl came up to Rob at the concert and asked, "Do people ever tell you you look exactly like Terry Richardson?"
So Creepy! But perhaps a stellar couples Halloween costume idea? I'll be Miley!

  1. awesome date night! and thanks for the tips on the madewell jeans. i just picked up a pair of anthro's stevie ankle at a ridiculous sale and i am in love (no muffin top either!)

  2. LOVE that outfit!! So cool you got to see him in concert again!!

  3. You should be Audrey Gelman (his real life girlfriend, she was on Girls as Charlie's new gf!) for Halloween if you're going the Terry Richardson route! ;)

  4. I think you nailed the rock and roll look! Sounds like a fun night, for sure. And I would have bailed post-show, too... I'm 30 now, but it's mostly been multiple years since I was able to stay out crazy late :)

  5. I love everything about this post. Great look for a ever better night! And I'm glad I'm not the only one that goes shopping the day of with only one hour and pull something together. But it so awesome when it works out! Well done!

  6. This place rocked my world, the sound system is truly incredible, and brought me back to my days of Vinyl. I also recall dancing for hours downstairs, followed by some more time upstairs to enjoy some thundering house.

  7. Cute post! Ah man, I think your man is much better looking than Terry Richardson (yuck). I would just recommend not doing a images google search of Terry Richardson. I did once (not exactly sure what I typed into google) but I saw some truly terrifying images that I will never be able to erase from my mind. :(

Anyway, I also just wanted to say again how much I love your blog. Anytime I am feeling inadequate after looking at Pinterest, I know I can come here and feel more normal. So, thanks for that.

  8. A broken marriage can be one of the most painful things to heal from and can take a very long time to heal. During these times it can feel like the whole world could light up in flames and it still couldn't compare to the pain inside. My name is Nicole Cottrell form UK, I have been in great bondage for almost 2 years suffering in the hands of a cheating husband, we were happy and leaving well until he meant his old time girl friend and he started dating her outside our marriage before you knew it he stopped caring and taking care of his own family to the extent that he was planning to get married to her and divorce me, i cried and reported him to his family but he never listened to any one but to cut my story short i came in search for a real spell caster who could destroy their relationship and make him come back to me and our 2 kids on my search i saw people making testimony on how their marriage where restored by Chief Nwaluta Mallam Zack i pick his email and i narrated my story to him and he agreed to help me and after performing a spell on the second day both of them had a quarrel and he beat his girlfriend up and he came home begging for me and our little kids to forgive him that his eyes are clear now that he will never do any thing that will hurt his family again and promise to be a caring father and never cheat again. I am so happy that i did not loose him to the girl. all appreciation goes to Chief Nwaluta Mallam Zack for he is a Great spell caster and to whom this may concern if you have a cheating husband or wife or you need your ex lover back again. you can as well email him on { Nwalutaspelltemple@gmail.com } and this man made me to understand that there are only 8 real spell caster in Africa.
