5 Easy Steps to Throw a Ball: Teach Your Kid to Pitch a Baseball

As you can see, Owen's totally bored of always being assigned the catcher position. He is ready to pitch damn it. Luckily his gym teacher deconstructed the process of throwing a baseball and gave him  5 easy steps to become a pitcher. I had to share it. As soon as the weather warmed up, we headed to our favorite field and grabbed a few high-bounce balls to put it to the test . . .

Step One: Make a T shape with your arms
Step Two: Make a L with your throwing arm
Step Three: Point in the direction you want to throw the ball
Step Four: Step forward with your front foot
Step Five: Throw the ball.
Isn't that great? Owen was so adorable as he taught Ella the steps. Love that kid. See the pictures after the jump.

  1. Your kids are THE most stylish! Do they pick their clothes or do you? So floored by their adorable fashion :)

PS - what an awesome gym teacher! teaching a kid how to throw is hard!!

    1. thanks!! i'm lucky--my kids don't protest the clothes i lay out for them.

  2. Great steps! My boyfriend Brian's daughter, Emily, is starting softball this season and we are so excited! He took her out to the park last week to practicing throwing and catching. Looking forward to more spring weather and park play sessions soon!

  3. OMG - those pics are so cute - love the adjustments Owen gives Ella to achieve perfection!!!

  4. I'm obsessed with this, what awesome kiddos! I guess everyone has to learn at some point. The timing is perfect to Baseball Season has just started!

  5. This is so cute- I love that the littler one is teaching the bigger one something- I would never have taken instructions from my little brother!! x

  6. I think you've got tons to brag concerning! and that i would not worry about being "overly boastful" as a result of you are tooting your own horn! i prefer to listen to the great stuff that folks do. It's far better than hearing the long list of crap and ailments they're experiencing over ... and over ... and once again. Hearing dangerous stuff all the time is simply not smart.

  7. Love these photos - they're so cute and fun!
