Christmas Carnage: Owen Eating a Christmas Goose

video

For the past two weeks, I wake up and say to myself: Today I will be a vegan! But find myself with this same desire Owen's showing in the video (taken last year). All I want to do is climb on the table and eat animal products like an animal. No forks, no hands, just rip it apart with my teeth. Perhaps it will be my New Year's resolution. Today's the day! Let the New Year's resolution chatter begin. The worst are people who refuse to make up a few for conversation sake, as if they don't have goals they are working on. I never believe them!

  1. I was just thinking the same about goals and resolutions...how can you not? I like the idea of being a vegan but I crave that blasted animal stuff!

  2. Mine is to take an instagram picture everyday for a year. I'll probably end up with a lot of pictures of my cubicle :)

  3. If I can offer any advice, it's to start slowwly! You can't just wake up vegan one day and be that way forever. Start with a couple meatless days a week and then gradually build up to being a vegatarian and if you still want to become a vegan, try going vegan a couple days a week and go from there.

    2. I agree. That's somewhat how I started, though I'm not vegan, just vegetarian. I grew up in a semi-vegetarian household/religious school, so I was used to not eating meat on a daily basis. I didn't crave it either, so one day (a new year's resolution actually, ha!) I decided I was just going to do it. That was almost ten years ago. I've thought about going completely vegan, but I haven't mustered up courage yet.

As for resolutions, I was thinking about them earlier, while vacuuming the couch. Hadn't really "planned" any resolutions, but it hit me then, I have to become a better housekeeper. I may or may have not been vacuuming a few week's worth of crumbs and random crap (candy wraps?!) from the creases. So that's my resolution for this year--better keep up with this place.

  4. Great advise, VintageDanielle! This is true for most other goals, it's less painful if gradual. My goal is to write more in my journal. I haven't started yet, maybe tonight! Christine always cracks me up with her resolution to quit smoking. Since she's never smoked, she considers this a success that she can stick to! hahaaa

  5. This post cracked me up! My Husband and I have been doing the vegan thing since March 2012. It is so hard to get started but once you do, it really does get easier. Best of luck to you Sharon! As for me my New Year's resolution is to "live in the moment" and stop always looking ahead! I have some yummy vegan recipes on my blog if you want to check them out.

  6. When we were first married Bryan said, "I hate goals. If people wanted to do something they would just do it, they don't need to make a goal about it." I tease him about it sometimes. He now says that he was super annoying and wonders how I could stand him. I thought he quirky. I love goals!

  7. I totally agree! I look forward to making New Year's resolutions all December. I think there's immense value in taking the time to write things down and go public. Besides, now I can look over several years of resolutions and not only laugh at my failures, but notice that I've actually made real progress! Me!
