We went to the Rain Forest Cafe when we went to Atlantic City. The best thing about this restaurant is the wild ape and toucan sounds muddling out my whiny kids. One question: Is anything on the menu made on site? Everything we ordered tasted like a frozen TV dinner. Reheated and served straight to our table! Not that I don't do that every night for my kids (thanks Trader Joe's frozen dinners!), but at a restaurant? Gross. That said, it was probably my kids favorite part of the trip.

we have one near us. my kids LOVE the animals ect. but the food is beyond disgusting. it's not even good frozen food. and it's expensive for what it is. very very disappointing. now we just walk through and eat somewhere else. =)
ReplyDeleteYes, the food is terrible. I agree with other poster. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteI recently went with some children from my husband's side of the family (we live in Chicago) and even the pre-teens were surprised that the food wasn't good. They have average kid-tastes in food, but even remarked out loud that the resto was cool but the food wasn't worth it! Next time, we can just visit the gift shop and skip the dining!
ReplyDeleteWe went to the one at Disney Animal Kingdom. We waited over an hour and the atmosphere was really fun, but I too was disappointed in the food. The chicken nuggets the kids got were the animal shaped ones you can get at Walmart- horrible! Nobody expects gourmet food, but it should be at least the quality of other casual restaurants like Chilis or Applebees. Booooo
ReplyDeleteThe nachos are the quite delish.
ReplyDeletei really like that you stood up to the food at Rain Forest. Bravo! I'll have to try the nachos!
ReplyDeletethanks for all the funny comments. i hope someone from Rain Forest Cafe is reading this!!
ReplyDeletesmart! my kids loved the talking tree in the gift shop the best anyway.
ReplyDeleteit is expensive! the ape sound effects must be a lot of money to operate!
ReplyDeleteso true!!
ReplyDeleteI remember going to the Rainforest Cafe for my 10th birthday, and I thought it was the greatest restaurant ever! Looking back, though, I may have just been enamored with the indoor waterfalls, starlit ceiling (so cool!), and jungle noises.
ReplyDeletewe've gone with friends to the one in chicago and yes, the food is gross. but no denying that the kids love the big tree frog that walks around :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your life in NYC with the kiddies. Two of my sisters live there but they are not moms yet :) I just finished a massive blog post over at my blog about my son's nursery design. Might be inspiration for moms to be :) http://obsessivision.com/projects/the-nursery/
